During our 20 minute bake times we get active, from yoga to art to cracking codes, we exercise both our bodies and mind, helping kids develop the skills they need to manage life's everyday challenges and demands.
Designed for girls and boys 7-11 years old (1st - 4th grade), our 60 minute customizable program is led by top notch instructors who guide children through fun and educational experience.
WEEK ONE
Pizza | Self-Confidence | Yoga

Cooking Up: Mini Lunch-able Pizzas
We kick the program off with pretty much every kids favorite, pizza!

Skills: Self-confidence & Creativity
On this first day we discuss the science behind rehydrating our starters, learning about yeast and how this makes our dough rise. We also build our little bakers cooking confidence as they follow the steps from starter to pizza.

Yoga: Stretch & Fold Salutations
While our mini pizzas are baking, we do yoga! Games include, Freeze Yoga, Stretch & Fold Salutations & Partner Yoga.
TIME MANAGEMENT
Making & Baking: Goldfish Crackers
Bet you never knew you could make your own goldfish crackers! That's exactly what we're making this week.

How do we budget our time? With multiple steps involved, making goldfish is the perfect moment to teach kids about planning and prioritizing their time.

Hip Hop: Goldfish Groove
While our goldfish crackers are baking, we lead kids through a fun and easy Hip Hop routine they can teach parents later.

Making & Baking: Mini Heart Breads
These mini heart loaves with a surprise on the inside are a perfect kid-sized treat!

This week we learn about fractions, scaling recipes & converting ingredients from one unit to another.​​ We also add inclusions (cheese & seasonings) making this the perfect week to talk about being inclusive.

In todays class we have a partner challenge, with kids working together to create delicious soft bake pretzels.

What does it mean to be part of a team? How do you lead a team? This week we pair our little bakers up into teams of two, working together.

The “Pretzel Breathing Technique,” is an easy breathing exercise teaching kids to settle their bodies & relax their minds.

Cooking Up: Whole Wheat Crackers
This week we focus on making healthy choices, introducing wheat flour, oats & seeds (no nuts) as the main ingredients for our crackers.

Problem Solving & Brainstorming
How do we break large problems down into smaller steps? Today our little bakers do just that as they create their own cracker recipes!
Crossing the Sourdough Swamp
While our crackers are baking, we put our thinking caps on! Together we crack the code to cross the sourdough swamp.

Making & Baking: Tortillas
This week we make tortillas! Homemade tortillas are the perfect start to quesadillas, burritos, & the best taco night ever!

​What is a tradition? This week we talk about the history of tortillas, as well as traditions passed down through generations, that strengthen family ties and create a sense of belonging.

Cooking Up: Sweet & Savory Muffins
Our little bakers get to bake sweet and savory muffins this week. With a variety of inclusions and toppings, we let their imagination run wild.

How do we think outside the box? Today we mix a combination of flavors we normally don't put together, seeing if we can come up with something even more tasty.
Muffin Man Bowling
While our muffins are baking, we break into teams and go bowling! Using paper, markers, and lots of creativity to decorate paper towel rolls as pins and go for strikes.
COLLABORATION
Cooking Up: Pizza
In this final week we come full circle, putting our newly learned skills to the test, baking pizzas.

What does it mean to compromise? In this team challenge, we learn to collaborate & compromise, using only ingredients from the mystery box, working together to build the 'perfect' pizza.
Walking the Pizza Plank
While pizza's are baking, we divide into teams with one sailor 'walking the plank' while the remaining sailors call out directions, making sure they don't fall into pepperoni infested sauce.

The Sourdough Kids Club curriculum uniquely combines baking, science & game-based learning, helping kids build confidence and connection both in the kitchen and in life.
Over the course of this 8 week program we work together as a team, tackling new recipe challenges each week, learning to budget time, problem solve, and think/bake outside the box.​
