Mini Lunchable Pizzas
Making these mini 'lunch-able' pizzas has been one of our favorite classes to date. We think it's the building your OWN pizza with the toppings of YOUR choice that makes this is a huge hit with kids. Plus they're cute.
We now send the girls to camp with these mini pizzas, sauce & toppings as a snack. It turns snack time into an adventure.
We've included the ingredients used below, recipe directions, as well as a video cooking tutorial for kids. We recommend having ingredients prepared and your kids do the cooking. Remember, we're not after perfection, that't for adult cooks.
At Sourdough Kids Club there are no 'mistakes'. Our goals are to simply teach and inspire, and of course have fun!
Please have kids watch the video below for step by step baking instructions.
Ingredients:
Bread dough
1/2 cup SDKC starter
1/2 cups of water
1 1/2 cups of flour
2 tablespoons salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
Toppings
1 cup mozzarella cheese
1 cup pizza sauce
1/2 cup sausage
1/2 cup cubed ham
1/4 cup pineapple chunks
1/4 cup onions + peppers + olives
Directions:
PIZZA DOUGH: These ingredients make 8-10 mini pizzas. Double the recipe for more. For flour we mixed 1 cup all purpose flour & 1/2 cup whole what flour.
PIZZA SAUCE: We combined 3/4 cup tomato sauce, 3 tablespoons tomato paste & 3 tablespoons ketchup. Then mix!
TOPPINGS: We used a variety of toppings for our pizzas. Please feel free to use the toppings of your choice, you can't go wrong! One note: we cooked all toppings (except cheese and olives) prior to baking the pizzas. We think it takes better that way :)
BAKING DOUGH: You'll be first baking the dough, and then pizzas. Preheat oven to 500 degrees and place mini pizzas on baking sheet. Bake for 5-7 minutes.
BAKING PIZZAS: Again oven is preheated to 500 degrees. Bake 5-7 minutes until crust is golden brown and toppings are cooked!
NOTE: Please make sure a parent is available to both turn the oven on and off, as well as put bread in and take out.
