Bacon, Cheese & Broccoli Bread
Bacon, cheese, and broccoli make for a delicious trio in this simple loaf! For this loaf, we've cooked and chopped up the bacon before adding them as an inclusion, as well as grilled the broccoli. This is the perfect loaf to sneak some greens onto your kids plate!

We've included the ingredients used below, as well as a video cooking tutorial for kids. We recommend having ingredients prepared, and then let your kids do the cooking. Remember, we're not after perfection, leave that for adult cooks.
At Sourdough Kids Club there are no 'mistakes'. Our goals are to simply teach and inspire, and of course have fun!
Please have kids watch the video below for step by step baking instructions.
Ingredients:
Bread dough
3/4 cup SDKC starter
1 1/2 cups of water
4 cups of flour
2 tablespoons salt
Inclusions
3/4 cup cooked & chopped bacon
1 cup cheddar cheese
1 cup grilled broccoli
1/4 cup steak seasoning mix (optional)
To Bake:
DUTCH OVEN: If using a dutch oven, preheat oven to 500 degrees. You’ll bake 30 minutes with the lid on, and 15 to 20 minutes with the lid off.
COOKIE SHEET: Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease. Bake between 20 to 25 minutes. Keep an eye on the bread so it doesn't get too toasty.

To help the bread rise, create steam in the oven by placing a metal bowl or baking sheet in the oven with hot water. After 10 minutes, remove the baking sheet with the water to release some steam.
BREAD PAN: Slide your bread pan into the middle of the center rack of your oven. Close the oven door and let the dough bake for 20 minutes. To help the bread rise, create steam in the oven by placing a metal bowl or baking sheet in with hot water.
NOTE: Please make sure a parent is available to both turn the oven on and off, as well as put bread in and take out.
